What's to come?

Dear Members,

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all, FIATA Association members and FIATA Individual members, to the upcoming FIATA HQ Meeting!

Here we would like to share with you a few updates ahead of the event taking place from Saturday 18 March to Tuesday 21 March, starting with a Welcome Cocktail on Friday 17 March. A more detailed overview of the 2023 FIATA HQ Meeting programme can be found below.

FIATA has also planned a special Accompanying Persons programme during the FIATA HQ Meeting days - don't miss the opportunity to register! The deadline to register for these activities is Sunday 5 March.

What is happening on Friday 17 March?

Chamonix Tour
08:00-17:30 CET

Some of you have registered to the full-day trip to Chamonix, France, departing from the Royal Hotel Geneva at 08:00 CET. On this special day, a team of guides will lead you to discover the wonders of the mountainous French Alps: the Aiguille du Midi, Montenvers and its 'Sea of Ice'. You will also descend into the Ice Cave, by climbing up the flight of stairs consisting of 58 steps, that is sculpted into the heart of the glacier, another once-in-a-lifetime experience of amazing grandeur.

Bring along your passport, warm clothes and your camera for this excursion!

Make sure to be at the departure point, the Royal Geneva Hotel, at 07:45 CET at the latest. You don't want to be left behind, so make sure you catch the bus before it leaves. The bus will be back in Geneva by 17:30 CET, right on time for you to be able to attend the Welcome Cocktail.

Welcome Cocktail
18:30-20:30 CET

The Welcome Cocktail will take place at the IceBergues venue, located on rue Kléberg 12 in Geneva. A registration desk will also be available for participants to pick up their welcome package.

Registration & Exhibition Opening
09:00-10:00 CET

At 09:00 CET, the International Conference Center Geneva (CICG), the venue of the FIATA HQ Meeting, will open its doors for the inauguration of the 2023 FIATA HQ Meeting exhibition, in the presence of the esteemed FIATA President, Ivan Petrov.

This will be a unique opportunity to network with old and new acquaintances and familiarise yourself with the surroundings. In addition, participants are invited to collect their welcome package at the dedicated registration desk.

Opening Session
10:00-11:15 CET

FIATA President Ivan Petrov will launch the FIATA HQ Meeting 2023 with an opening address, in which he will present the programme and expected outcomes.

Jan Hoffmann, Head of Trade Logistics at UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), will provide a keynote speech, presenting an outlook on trade and logistics.

Lunch & Learn: Know your FIATA
12:00-13:30 CET

How can FIATA bring value to your own Association or Individual membership services? How can you better leverage FIATA’s training capabilities? The visa application process to attend the FIATA HQ Meeting is sometimes challenging, how can you maximise your chances of succeeding in a visa application? These are just some of the questions that will be answered in this special Lunch and Learn session.

What is happening on Monday 20 March?

Visit of the UN-Geneva
14:00-15:00 CET

Special tour guides will inform you about the activities of the United Nations and about how the UN impacts your life, as well as the people who make it happen. You will also discover the Palais des Nations, a unique building, formerly the headquarters of the League of Nations. Please note that the Palais des Nations is currently being refurbished in certain areas, however many attractions are still accessible.

What you will see, depending on the UN daily schedule of meetings:
  • The Human Rights and Alliance of Civilisations Room, decorated by famous artist Miquel Barcelò.
  • The library of the Palais des Nations.
  • The UN Museum Geneva.
  • Part of the Ariana Park and the monument commemorating the conquest of outer space.
  • A film about the history and features of the Assembly Hall, the largest room in the Palais des Nations.
  • The Council Chamber, where many important historical negotiations have taken place, with murals by José Maria Sert.
  • Gifts presented by various countries to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
  • The plaza and entrance of the UN Geneva's new state-of the-art and sustainable Building H.

IMPORTANT: The meeting point is at the “Peace Gate” entrance of the Palais des Nations, at Place des Nations in Geneva (opposite the giant statue of the broken chair) at the latest 45 minutes before the start of the tour. All visitors must also carry a valid passport issued by a Member State or an Observer State of the United Nations. Identity cards from the Schengen zone are also accepted.

Evening Cocktail

The Evening Cocktail will take place at the FIATA HQ Meeting venue at 18:30-20:30 CET. Come and enjoy a nice evening with all FIATA HQ Meeting participants.
